Addressing the appointees after the swearing-in, Yusuf said their appointment was in line with the need to co-opt more resourceful hands for effective delivery of government business.
He explained that they were appointments based on merit, dedication, loyalty, commitment and on the expectation that they will relentlessly partake and contribute positively to taking Kano State to greater heights.
The Governor said they are expected to be diligent in the discharge of their duties saying, “The present administration is all out to protect the interests of good people of the state and to ensure fulfilment of promises made to the electorates during the campaign period.”
He told the special advisers that much is anticipated from them in providing useful advice on relevant issues and liaising with other public office holders and civil servants for the smooth coordination of government policies and programmes in accordance with stipulated rules.
He, however, urged civil servants to be up and doing, saying, “As the engine room of actualising government’s initiatives, civil servants need to be dedicated, committed and render selfless service towards developing our dear state, and to serve the people diligently.
“As we are doing our best to pay salaries and other entitlements, we as government, would not condone truancy, laxity and other lukewarm attitudes detrimental to effective services delivery.”
