The Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Dr David Bob-Manuel, on Wednesday, advised the Federal Government to encourage innovation and technology-driven entrepreneurship among the youthful population as a way of putting an end to social vices.
Addressing newsmen in Lagos, he said the nation is faced with the challenges of unemployment as well as the involvement of youths in cyber fraud.
He said, “Unemployment remains a challenge in this country. Many of our youths are now into online fraud, armed robbery, kidnapping, and all forms of social vices. Furthermore, I implore the government at all levels to improve the quality of education and vocational training programmes in order to equip the youth with the relevant skills for the job market. I also encourage that technology plays a crucial role in our modern society today.
“The governments can also review and reform labour market regulations to make it easier for businesses to thrive and provide job security for workers. Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises through access to finance, training, and infrastructure stimulates job creation and entrepreneurship. If all these suggestions are brought to the fore and implemented, it will enhance productivity and reduce criminality to the barest minimum.”
While calling for the need to empower security architecture and agencies, the clergyman also urged the government to separate security from politics.
