The Old Students Association of African Comprehensive High School has called on the Federal Government to revamp the education sector and make it worthy of global standards.
Speaking during a press briefing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the school slated for September 16, a member of the association who is also the principal of the school, Venerable Joseph Adediji said education had improved and evolved beyond paperwork in this age and time.
According to him, the old schooling method has its good side but the sector has to move on beyond the level.
He said, “There is a need for the government to do more in the education sector by providing a conducive environment and at the same time by improving from time to time on the skills used in our schools. The old methods and ways of marking WAEC are still what we are using. If you go to developed countries, you will see their children using their academic gadgets. We are growing digitally. Enough of this paperwork. And that is a trend that the government needs to look into.”
He added that the government should also provide the facilities and create an enabling environment for teaching and learning to take place.
The National President of the Old Students Association, Reverend Femi Lapite, highlighted a line-up of activities heralding the golden Jubilee which includes a Novelty match, gala night, quiz competition, and lots more.
Prince Sunday Ladipo who is the co-chairman of the anniversary said most of the facilities in the school were donated by members of the association.
