Rwanda to claim consolation victory in dead rubber
Defending champions Senegal breezed through qualification. Winning their opening four games to earn the right to defend their crown in Ivory Coast this coming January.
As a result of that the Senegalese Football Federation has selected a very experimental line up for this dead rubber. The squad comprises of players under 20 years old who won the AFCON in their age group and those who were victorious in the African Nations Championship.
More priority appears to be given to the upcoming friendly against Algeria. Head Coach Aliou Cissé joined the likes of Sadio Mane in staying behind and only being involved in the match up against the Fennecs.
Although already eliminated from the competition, Rwanda’s record is not as bad as it appears. They are unbeaten in their two away games in the group and drew 1-1 at home to Benin only to have the match awarded to their opponents due to striker Muhire Kevin playing when suspended.
They can take a consolation victory here against an opponent who would ordinarily be a very short odds-on favourite.

Mugisha to double his tally
It is near impossible to predict the Senegal line-up so it makes sense to get a Rwanda player onside. Gilbert Mugisha looks the best option to include in our AFCON qualifiers tips.
The 27-year-old scored the opening goal as the Wasps drew 1-1 in Benin on match day 3. Perfectly timing his run from out to in leaving himself with only the keeper to beat. Although his initial effort was saved he was composed enough to slot home the rebound.
Expect another lively and energetic performance from the left sided forward. A regular scorer for Rwandan Premier League side APR FC Kigali. He can add to his tally of goals here.
Senegal vs Rwanda Bet 2: Gilbert Mugisha to score anytime
Quiet finale anticipated with nothing to play for
With a hugely experimental side we are likely to see a disjointed performance from the usually consistent and free scoring Senegalese. Top spot is assured and this is seen as a good chance to give the next generation some experience.
Rwanda will still like to take the scalp of the reigning AFCON champions regardless of the makeup of their side. Especially given their poor qualification campaign to date.
Gerard Buschier’s side aren’t known for high scoring games at the best of times and siding with a lack of goals looks the best option for the last of our tips. Their last five away games in Nations Cup qualifiers have all seen under 2.5 goals land.
