Former World 100m hurdles champion, Tobi Amusan, had dropped one spot in the latest World Athletcis ranking, Punch Sports Extra reports.
Amusan who lost her world women’s 100m hurdles crown to Jamaica’s Danielle Williams at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary in August is now ranked 25th globally but retains her No. 2 spot in the 100m hurdles behind Olympic champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.
Also, Ese Brume lost eight spots in the latest ranking.
The 27-year-old was ranked 142nd last week after jumping 6.84m to place fourth at the World Championship.
The African long jump record holder is now placed 150th in the overall women’s ranking.
She however retains her status as the fifth best ranked athlete in the women’s long jump event behind reigning World Indoor and Oudoor champion, Ivana Vuleta of Serbia, USA duo Tara Davis-Woodhall and Quanesha Burks as well as Italian, Larissa Iapichino.
The Nigerian duo Amusan and Brume bounce improve on their ranking if they win their respective event at the Diamond League final in Oregon, USA next week.
Meanwhile, Shot Putter, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi remains the top ranked Nigerian athlete in the overall men’s ranking with sprinters
Enekwechi is ranked 194th while sprinters, Udodi Onwuzurike (316) and Ushoritse Itshekiri (514) second and third respectively.
