A food media company, Foodbay TV, has expressed its determination to showcase African foods to young people below the age of 25.
At a food fest which held at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State, last weekend, different kinds of African meals were displayed and served.
Speaking at the event, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Oluwafemi Ogundoro, stated that they were using a social experiment to bring and re-introduce the foods to young Nigerians, fondly known as Gen Z. He said, “The Food Quest is a digital food show that is focused on getting a lot of Gen Z to experience authentic African foods that are on the verge of extinction. The format we are using is a social experiment to bring and reintroduce the food to them. The show was inspired by the fact that many millennials experienced many things that were not experienced by Gen Z. Our food is rich, and our culture is incomplete without our food. About 65 per cent of our population is not aware of basic meals; that is why we are championing an initiative like this.”
Some of the guests at the event were a former Big Brother Naija housemate, Elozonam Ogbolu; and a food critic, Opeyemi Famakin.
