An actor, Dauda Sulaimon, aka Gida, has said that contrary to what some believe, he did not keep his marriage a secret.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, he said, “Hearing that is strange, because I have never kept her as a secret. I have always celebrated her on her birthdays on social media. There is a line between my professional and private lives. I respect and love my wife, and I have to strike a balance between my work and my home. All I have done is to keep both separate, without one affecting the other.”
The actor also urged filmmakers in the industry to raise their standards to attract better patronage. He said, “My advice to producers is that they should raise the standard, and give actors and producers better pay. They can also pool their resources together, and they will produce movies of high standards that will be accepted on any platform. Doing that will undoubtedly improve the quality of their works.”
Gida added that since two of his senior colleagues in the industry− Kemi Afolabi and Laide Bakare− allegedly fought over him, his relationship with them has been on a professional level. He said, “We are colleagues, and in our line of work, one cannot afford to keep enemies. We are professionals, and have always treated ourselves as such anytime our paths cross.”
