Ogunsola noted that community development is a collective effort that should be supported by all.
The LG boss, on Monday, stressed that assisting the government through intervention schemes from individuals and corporate organizations would assuage the suffering of the people.
He said this during the commissioning of 10 lock-up shops donated to the residents by Asiwaju of Orile-Imo, High Chief Olalekan Olakunle.
The community leader equally empowered 50 widows and youths in the community with working tools such as hairdryers, sewing machines, grinding pepper machines, deep freezers and motorcycles, among others.
While commending Olakunle for giving back to his community, the council chairman said interventions from people would relieve the government.
He added that the council has erected a borehole water project, renovation of health centre and construction of shops in the community which are due for commissioning in October this year.
He added, “We are really in need of philanthropists like High Chief Olakunle who take delight in supporting government in its bid to relieve people of deficiency in life essentials.
“This is not the first project by Chief Olakunle, in fact, recently, I received his letter in which he requested my permission to construct blocks of classrooms in our primary schools. Such is the Giving Spirit that our Egbon possessed.”
Speaking shortly after commissioning another multi-million naira hotel, the project facilitator, Olakunle noted that the donation of the lock-up shops was part of his humanitarian programmes to the community.
He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for varied developmental projects across the state, promised to continuing doing his best to support his administration.
He further said, “I would remain grateful to His Excellency for the honour accorded me in commissioning this edifice. I thank Governor Abiodun for his ingenuity in spreading his developmental projects across the state. I want to put it on record that my people and I will continue to give our utmost support to his administration.
“My decision to make the needy happy has been a kind of dream come true. Some years ago, I was also poor. Then, I made a covenant with God that if He would turn around my life, providing uplift to the poor would become my routine.
“So, marking my birthday annually has been an avenue for me to make the poor happy. It has been an event by which I fulfill my covenant with God.”
He expressed appreciation to the young people of Orile-Imo and its environs, thanked the Vice Chairman, Hon Olusesi, other political appointees in attendance, Council of Baales, Traditional Councils, PCRC members, representatives of the International Brewery, Liberators, associations and clubs, as well as well-wishers.
