AC Milan faced a woeful 5-1 defeat to top rivals Inter Milan on Saturday, Punch Online reports.
Losing 2-0 in the first half, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, pulled one back to what might have seemed like a start to a comeback. Unfortunately, the visitors were stunned as Inter added three goals to win 5-1 at full-time.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored the first goal just after five minutes into the game. Marcus Thuram added to the scoresheet 32 minutes after, scoring a wonder strike from the edge of the box.
Mkhitaryan added to his tally in the 69th minute, killing Milan’s hope for a comeback. Hakan Calhanoglu added to the scoresheet after converting a penalty in the 79th minute. Davide Frattesi wrapped up the victory after putting one past Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan at stoppage time.
Part of the goal scorers of the Nigerian side that beat São Tomé e Príncipe, last weekend, Super Eagles and Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze was brought in 57 minutes into the game, replacing former Chelsea and current United States captain, Christian Pulisic.
