An actress, Motunde Sogunle, who is popular for her portrayal of Motunde, the fictional daughter of a social media comedian, Mr Macaroni. In the skits, Motunde often brings suitors to her dad, with all of them having one problem or the other.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Motunde said, “My character’s humorous quest for a husband in Mr Macaroni’s skits can sometimes lead to misconceptions about my real-life relationship status. But, I take that to mean that I embody the roles I play so well. To handle such misconceptions, I try to maintain a clear distinction between my on-screen character and my personal life. I understand that things like that are part of the entertainment industry, and I take it in stride. I often share moments from my real life on social media to show that I am not on a perpetual husband hunt. It is essential to have a good sense of humor, and not let the misconceptions affect one personally.”
Speaking on her experience playing the character of Motunde, she said, “Acting is not just a hobby but a job, and every moment on set is always incredible. It feels amazing to be a part of Mr Macaroni’s creative team and bring those entertaining characters to life.”
Sharing her thoughts on how social media affects the mental health of entertainers, she said, “Social media can contribute to mental health issues for those in the entertainment industry and beyond. The constant exposure to public scrutiny, criticism and comparison can be overwhelming and stressful. It is important to remember that social media often showcases the highlights of people’s lives, creating unrealistic standards and pressures. To curtail those negative effects, digital detoxification, media literacy, putting out positive content, among other measures can help one in finding a healthy balance between the benefits and drawbacks of social media.”
