Bello said it was both ethically and morally improper to collect the pension and allowances as a former governor and continue to collect emoluments as a senator.
The senator, in a letter addressed to Governor Bago dated September 6th and made available to newsmen on Saturday night, said the suspension would be to the duration of his service as a senator.
The letter titled ‘Suspension of my pension and allowances’ read in parts, “I write to request for the suspension of my pension and allowances from the Government of Niger State for the duration of my service as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Your Excellency will recall that I was inaugurated as a senator representing Niger North in the 10th Senate on the 13th September 2023. I deem it ethically and morally improper to benefit from pension and allowances as a former governor of Niger State while I take emoluments as a senator.
“This suspension should last until I give notice to the contrary after my service as a senator,” he stated.
