Saints to pile more misery on Boro
Middlesbrough find themselves in a similar position at this stage of the season as they did last having made a very poor start. Having come to their rescue as the replacement for Chris Wilder and taking Boro all the way from the relegation zone to the play-offs, Michael Carrick now finds himself as the man under pressure.
The Teesiders made their worst-ever winless start to a league season outside the top flight and have certainly struggled to shake off their hangover of failing to secure promotion. Picking up just one point and scoring only one goal from their opening three fixtures on home soil.
Southampton’s last away game was not too far away from here and ended in embarrassment. A 5-0 thumping at the hands of Sunderland made it eight competitive away matches without a clean sheet and it may be the case they have to outscore their hosts here to take all three points.
Both these sides have been very open this season giving away plenty of chances and if it does become a shootout I can see only one winner. Looking at the odds I am going to side with the slight favourite and that is Southmapton.

Adams to get back on the goal trail with short term future certain
Che Adams was very much a wanted man this summer. Reported moves to Premier League outfits including Everton and Wolves fell through with the sides unable to agree a fee with Southampton.
The 27-year-old now knows he will remain at St. Mary’s until at least January and will focus on scoring the goals that will both keep him in the side and his employers in contention at the top of the table. He has already scored in two of Southampton’s three away games so far this term.
The Scotland international earned his move to the South Coast after his last spell at this level. Posting the most impressive goal-scoring stats of his career to date when firing in 22 goals for Birmingham City in 2018/19.
With a wealth of attacking talent at Russell Martin’s disposal deciding which of his strikers he will start with is the hardest part of these predictions. However, I have to side with Adams given his work rate, tenacity and ability to work space for a shot will prove a real headache to his fragile Boro defence.

Manning to add to his growing collection of cards
Southampton are in transition under new manager Russell Martin however there is one player in their ranks that knows his role inside out. Ryan Manning was Saints’ first signing of the summer but played under Martin at Swansea last season making 43 league appearances.
It is no surprise to see he also collected a career high 11 yellow cards last term. As fundamentally a left back the 27-year-old will find himself in a variety of positions during a game under a manager that likes to dominate possession and when doing so set up in a 2-3-2-3 formation.
This has also led to Manning being booked in four of his first six appearances for the club. He will go head-to-head with a variety of opponents that will test his discipline at the Riverside Stadium and looks a wise final addition to the tips for this clash.
