PBAN President, Emmanuel Onuorah, said, “The bread-making industry requires necessary government protection given its crucial importance in the value chain of foods availability to the mass populace.”
Onuorah said that the association’s Day-Out slated for Thursday, November 9, 2023, would bring together critical stakeholders in the baking industry to map out solutions to the nagging problems of bread baking particularly in view of the economic downturn afflicting the country’s manufacturing sector.
A statement by a brand consultant, Eddy Ademosu, made available in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, on Sunday, stated that eminent players and regulators expected for the day-out with the theme, ‘Overcoming baking industry challenges under harsh economic realities,’ will “dissect the underlining causes of the industry’s hiccups and also make appropriate recommendations.”
According to Onuorah, the Group Managing Director, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc, Mr. Boye Olusanya, will chair the gathering while the Director (Food Safety and Applied Nutrition), National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration and Control, Ms Eva Edwards, will offer the regulator’s perspectives to the theme of the day-out.
Other activities earmarked for the day out include bakers’ exhibition, networking, interactive session, entertainment, etc.
The PBAN Day-Out is the first in a series of initiatives to ensure that the baking Industry keeps playing its prominent role in the food security of the country.
