Despite their 1-0 win over Motherwell during their Scottish Premier League match-day six game on Sunday, Glasgow Rangers coach, Michael Beale, was left unsatisfied by Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers and his teammates, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
A first-half goal from Dessers was the difference at Ibrox as the Nigeria international found the target with 24 minutes on the clock to seal their fourth win of the season.
Motherwell made it difficult for Rangers in front of their fans but Dessers was on the end of the lone goal which was his first in the league.
In his post-match interview, Beale applauded the move which led to the goal but didn’t hide his frustration about his team’s performance.
“It was a good goal; it was something that we have worked on. The goal was really good play. If you play it back, the combination play between them was really good play so in that sense, in that moment, they have really shown what they are capable of,” Beale told Rangers TV.
“At the end of the game, the only thing you have as a coach and player is the next game, which is really huge. There is an opportunity for everyone, when you play you have to show the quality.
“I’m looking for more from this group of players and my staff as well. I don’t take one bit of comfort from this win. It wasn’t a game I enjoyed at all; I don’t think the players enjoyed it either. We have two more games this week and it’s down to me and the players to respond and show better than what we did in this game. it was nowhere near good enough.”
Dessers has scored three goals for the club since joining them from Cremonese in the summer.
Rangers are third in the Scottish Premiership with 12 points from six matches and return to action on Wednesday in the quarter-finals of the League Cup against Livingston, before facing Aberdeen on Saturday.
