Pensioners in Ogun State have described the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, as their benefactor and a leader committed to improving their welfare.
They said between August 2022 and now, the governor released N2.1bn for payment of their gratuities.
The Chairman of Local Government Pensioners Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Council, Pastor Benedict Ademoye, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta.
He stated that “Between August 2022 and now, the State Government had released N2.1bn for the payment of part of our backlog of gratuities and about 200 Local Government pensioners benefitted.
“Governor Abiodun is sincerely committed to the welfare of the pensioners, he has promised to clear all the outstanding gratuities before he leaves office. He is no doubt our benefactor
“The State Government has equally set up a medical board that attend to Local Government pensioners that have medical challenges. Several pensioners have been attended to.”
He added that, “For instance, a director who retired in September 2022 had been paid his total gratuity to enable him undergo urgent major surgery. Since August 2022, no Local Government retiree with medical challenge (known to LOGPAN) had died due to lack of money. We are really grateful to Gov Abiodun.”
