Domination from start to finish for Napoli
The 2022–23 season saw Napoli win the Serie A for just the third time in their history. Luciano Spaletti’s team were dominant all season, finishing 16 points clear of second-place Lazio. In their title win, Gli Azzurri finished as the league’s top scorer with 77 goals, while boasting the best defensive record with 28 goals conceded.
However, Spaletti departed to manage the Italian national team, so 59-year-old Frenchman Rudi Garcia was appointed at the helm. Under his stewardship, Napoli have made a steady yet unspectacular start to the season. With eight points in five games, they are 7th, already seven points behind Inter Milan, who have a 100% record. They are without a win in three after wins against Frosinone (1-3) and Sassuolo (2-0). These were followed up by a 1-2 loss to Lazio, a 2-2 draw with Genoa, and a 0-0 draw with Bologna.
Udinese have started the season extremely poorly. Bianconeri are without a win in their first five games, scoring only one goal. A 1-1 draw at Salernitana and back-to-back 0-0 draws against Frosinone and Cagliari were sandwiched in between 0-3 and 0-2 home losses to Juventus and Fiorentina, respectively. Udinese ended last season with four straight defeats, limping to a 12th-place finish. Despite normally being trigger-happy with managers, the Pozzo family has stuck with Andrea Sotill.
Despite a stuttering start to the season, Napoli should have too much for Udinese, and we predict them to win at halftime and full time—a bet that landed last season between these two teams.

Victor(y) for Oshimhen
Nigerian striker Victor Oshimhen announced himself as a superstar on the global stage last season, leading Napoli to their first league title since 1990. The 24-year-old scored 26 goals in 34 games, ending the season as the Serie A top scorer, five goals ahead of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.
In exciting Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Oshimhen had the perfect winger supplying him, with the 22-year-old scoring 12 and assisting 10 in the league.
Oshimhen has also started this season well, scoring three goals in five starts. He is slightly underperforming his xG (expected goals) of 4.4, so there is certainly more to come. The 24-year-old is also averaging 5.33 shots per game in all competitions, so he isn’t afraid to shoot.
Playing against lowly Udinese, Oshimhen will certainly fancy his chances of adding to his growing goal tally.

Low-scoring affair
The final selection comes from the GG market. Two of Napoli’s five games so far this season have seen GG , with Rudi Garcia’s side keeping clean sheets against Sassuolo and Bologna. They also boasted the best defence in Serie A last season, only conceding 28 goals all season.
They host a Udinese side with one goal all season, with GG NO landing in four out of five games. Last season, Udinese only scored 47 goals—the second-lowest total in the top 13 of the league.
With Napoli expected to dominate, I can’t see an impotent Udinese team scoring their second goal of the season in their toughest game yet.
