The President of Centre for Change, Joe Okei-Odumakin, Saturday stated that following the “torrent of negative occurrences” since the beginning of the year, Nigeria’s Independence Day anniversary had dedicated itself to deceased entertainer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, and “the oppressed he represents everywhere”.
Odumakin said this in a special statement on the Independence Day sent to Saturday PUNCH.
The Nigerian rapper and singer died on September 12.
His death has roused several allegations of attacks between the owner of Mohbad’s former record label, Marlian Music, Naira Marley, amid demands for justice.
She said, “This Independence Anniversary has dedicated itself to Mohbad and the oppressed he represents everywhere. See how the world stands with him and us.”
“This is the silver lining. True patriots in Nigeria and everywhere. It is a time to stand with the world too. Let’s have an Independence Day filled with reflections.”
