An actress and filmmaker, Bose Alao-Omotoyosi, has said that being married has slowed down her career.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, she said, “Marriage and motherhood affect a woman’s career. Whenever I look back at when I started my career in 2002, I realised that I have been in this industry for over two decades. I feel I am being slowed down having to look after my kids, and trying to be a good wife. Motherhood affected my career, because it was not easy to go back on the screen. I am not where I ought to be in my career. Marriage can be very challenging in that regard.
“I used to get more roles before I got married. I hardly get roles now.”
Recalling her most memorable Independence Day celebration, Alao-Omotoyosi said, “My (most) memorable Independence Day celebration was last year (2022). I had a photo shoot, where I dressed in white and green. I am a patriot. I love Nigeria so much, and I want the betterment of this country. I always say that when I clock 40 and older, I could venture into politics.”
Speaking on why the movie industry has not made enough movies about the country’s past heroes, she said, “I think it is because some filmmakers are yet to get good plots that interest them (about the said hero). One cannot just produce movies about such people. One has to inform their families. Another factor is that most people prefer comical stories, because the country is ‘hard’ enough.”
