Mr Kayode Akinmade, Chief Consultant on Media to Governor Dapo Abiodun, has urged social commentators and other critical stakeholders to always get their facts right before making comments on issues concerning the state.
Citing the incident that led to the impeachment of the former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area at Government, Wale Adedayo, he stated that some recent comments on issues in the state were based on vague understanding and incomplete information.
He said that Adedayo’s allegation that the state governor was diverting local government allocations was false.
Akinmade, who said this while speaking on Television Continental’s morning programme, ‘The Breakfast Show’, on Friday, stated that Adedayo goofed when he alleged that local governments in the state were getting zero allocation since he (Adedayo) was elected in 2021.
He explained that when Adedayo received N3m monthly as a security vote along with his salaries when he was LG boss.
“Let me make it abundantly clear that the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is a man of due process and thoughtfulness; he will never be involved in any unwholesome activities and will always uphold transparency and accountability at all times.”
Reacting, Adedayo, in an interview with Saturday PUNCH, said, “The Federal Government can also say they will withhold Ogun State allocation, that they are paying the salary of civil servants in the state.
“On the security vote, the governor also collects security votes. All those things are the responsibilities of the local government and not what the state government should be doing.”
