Anthony Joshua’s camp manager KD has revealed the British boxing superstar is currently training with Tyson Fury’s old coach.
The former two-time world heavyweight champion is staying in shape with Ben Davison who helped Fury make a sensational comeback in 2018.
According to KD, ‘AJ’ will continue his working relationship with Derrick James, who has led him to victories over Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius in 2023.
But while he’s not in America, Davison’s gym is where he will be.
“Anthony Joshua wants to be very active,” KD told Boxing King Media.
“He’s currently ticking over, he’s down at the Ben Davison Performance Centre at the moment. He’s ticking over with Ben, (and) Jamie TKV – we had him in our camps in Dallas a couple of times.
“So, he’s still active. When he’s got a date, you’ll see him back out in Dallas with Derrick James continuing the work.”
After guiding ‘The Gypsy King’ to a controversial draw against Wilder, Davison was in his corner two more times for fights with Otto Wallin and Tom Schwarz.
Ultimately, the young coach was replaced by SugarHill Steward who oversaw Fury’s back-to-back wins against Wilder and domestic dustups with Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora.
A fight between Joshua and Wilder is currently in talks but negotiations have recently hit a major snag as Saudi Arabia backed out of hosting the mega-money matchup.
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, who has looked after Joshua since his professional debut, has repeatedly claimed his star client could box someone else in December if talks with Wilder continue to stall.
