Old students of Command Secondary School, Ipaja, Lagos, have planned to raise a N30m microfinance loan to support their members.
Speaking at the 35th anniversary of their graduation and award ceremony, the President of COMLAG C’88 set, also called the Class of Eagles, Mr Kayode Ogunsola, explained that the contribution for the fund, which was now close to N20m, started a few months ago and would be used to sponsor business enterprises of their members.
He added that the disbursement of the loan would be through a microfinance bank.
Ogunsola said, “We are launching a microfinance project today to raise N30m, which we will use to fund enterprises, maybe small businesses or any start-up initiatives that our colleagues have. And to ensure that we can all grow together.
“We cannot all have resources. But we can ensure that nobody is left behind. That’s what the 35th anniversary is for us. We’ve been raising the funds over the last six months and we’ve achieved close to N20m now.”
The 18th Commandant, Command Secondary School, Ipaja, Lagos, Lt. Col. Christopher Bidda, said the school would continue to engage with the 1988 set, saying the Class of Eagles had accomplished men and women due to the excellent education they received from the school.
“In the class of ‘88 Command Secondary School, Ipaja, Lagos, we have accomplished men and women from that set. That shows the kind of foundation they received from Command Secondary School, Ipaja Lagos, in particular.”
The National President of the association, Mr Segun Adefila, said, “The idea is for us to come together and network. You meet people, you assist and help them. I have been outside the country where I was privileged to meet old students to assist me. Those are the facts about being together as old students. This set and other sets have been very good and helped us to grow as a family.”
