The residents made this appeal on Tuesday while speaking with PUNCH Metro.
They stressed that since the commencement of rain some months ago, they have been faced with difficulties accessing their community with vehicles while businesses have also been paralysed due to the bad road.
When PUNCH Metro visited the community, it was observed that members of the community had to construct a wooden bridge on the side of the road to aid human and commercial motorcycle movements.
The community head, Qazeem Alade, said, “The road has turned to a river from Lusada to Alapoti back to Atan to Ado-Odo. There is nothing we can call a road there anymore.
“We need assistance from the Ogun State Government. Today, traders cannot go to the market. All the businesses here have been halted because of the road.”
He noted that efforts made to get the intervention of the local government authorities did not yield any positive result.
A resident, Sharafa Mustapha, said that when the community realised that help was not coming from the government, residents had to improvise by constructing a wooden bridge.
He said, “This road is bad. We had to construct a wooden bridge which could only be plied by motorcycles and those trekking. When residents discovered that the government was not ready to help, that was when they came together to find a solution because that’s the only road that leads from Ado to Lusada market.”
A trader who spoke on condition of anonymity said the bad state of the road has affected businesses and the living conditions of residents of the community. She stressed that they are now subjected to poverty because their businesses could not thrive again.
Efforts made to get the reactions of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya, and the Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Chairman, Sheriff Musa, proved abortive as both of them did not respond to messages and calls made to their mobile phones.
