The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), has commended Grand Oak Limited, makers of Seaman’s Aromantic Schnapps, for sponsoring the Olojo festival.
A statement on Tuesday said the monarch gave the commendation “during the annual Pre-Olojo Festival Conference held in recognition of the sponsors of the annual event at the palatial Conference Hall of the Palace.”
“The Kabiyesi gave special kudos and recognition to Grand OAK, makers of the popular Schnapps’ brand, for their consistent support.
“He made reference to Seamans Schnapps as the original elders’ prayers and blessings drink that has endured in values in the comity of celebrations for joyous events as well as for prayers in invoking the authority of ancestors and deities,” the statement said.
“You can only meet it where there is joy and celebration and not where people are mourning. They rebelled against it, but the brand kept on waxing stronger. It is used to bake, to embalm the dead, it is used for many positive purposes,” the statement quoted Ooni as saying.
