At least 20 members of the Cherubim & Seraphim Movement Church, Divine Blessing Cathedral, Alagbado, Lagos, have been given N1m each by the Remi Awode Foundation.
The gesture was part of the activities to celebrate the 60th birthday of the founder of the foundation and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Chemstar Group, Dr Emmanuel Awode, a statement said on Wednesday.
The N20m, which was presented to the 20 beneficiaries on Sunday during the thanksgiving service of Awode’s birthday, was part of the RAF project instituted in 2013 to empower members of the church, award university scholarships and provide other forms of humanitarian services to members of the church and the underprivileged in society.
“Presenting the cheques, Awode, who clocked 60 years on September 7, said the N1m gift to each of the 20 recipients was primarily to assist and boost their businesses, in line with his yearly programme and commitment to reducing poverty among the members of the church,” the statement said.
