Family members of the late Isaac Alison are suspecting foul play over the death of their son and have therefore called on the police to investigate the death.
Alison, a developer, was said to have died while with his second wife identified simply as Shallon.
The deceased’s brother, Eric, who spoke to our correspondent, said Alison who was based abroad with his first wife and four kids, returned to establish a business in Nigeria in 2004 and met his second wife.
He claimed that shortly after Alison got married to the female banker, he became inaccessible to family members.
According to him, Isaac’s whereabouts were unknown for close to 10 years until when the family learnt that he was sick.
He said, “When he came to Nigeria to establish himself, he met who was then a cashier at a bank in Lagos. From there, they became friends and later started dating. In 2011, Alison called my mother to come to Lagos for something important. She arrived on a Friday and my brother told her that he was getting married to Shallon the next day (Saturday).
“Nobody knew his whereabouts since then until 2021 when his friend told us that he could no longer be found in his Lagos residence. We later got to know that he was sick and that was when we lodged a complaint at Zone 2 Police Command where Shallon was instructed to bring our brother to the station.
“When she brought him, we discovered that he was seriously sick and could not speak. That was how we took him to Benin for proper treatment in September.”
Eric, however, explained that efforts to keep Shallon away from being around his brother were unsuccessful after the head of their family identified simply as Clement insisted that she should be allowed to monitor his recovery.
He further claimed that Shallon later succeeded in taking her ailing husband away from the hospital in Benin back to Lagos.
He added that when they could not reach both of them again, they returned to the Zone 2 Police Command and that when the deceased’s lawyer was contacted, he sent a video where Shallon was holding Alison on the sick bed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police on June 24, 2023.
He said, “Then the next day, we learnt he was dead. Then she took her corpse to the morgue. That was when the AIG asked his officer to follow us to the morgue to confirm his identity.
“When we got to the pathology section, we discovered an autopsy was about to be conducted on him. We asked who instructed them and they said it was the woman that brought him. That was how the police stopped them. Since then, we have not seen her.
“We want the woman to be arrested and a proper autopsy carried out to be sure of the cause of our brother’s death. We also want the properties in her care to be given to the children.”
Efforts to reach Shallon through her telephone numbers made available to our correspondent were not successful as of press time as the lines were not connecting.
While confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 2 Command, Hauwa Idris, said policemen were still on Shallon’s trail and that she might be declared wanted.
“We are planning to carry out the autopsy. Maybe she had arranged for a doctor to do the autopsy but for the intervention of the police. We are still tracking her. We are also waiting for the report of the autopsy before we declare her wanted,” Idris said.
