Hassan and the others were passengers in a commercial vehicle along Tegina-Kontagora road in Niger state at noon on Thursday when they were abducted.
All the victims in the commercial vehicle were said to be travelling to Kebbi state from Abuja when the incident occurred.
It was learnt that the victims were subsequently led into the bush by the bandits from where they were taken to an unknown destination.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said he would get back after his enquiries. “I will find out and get back to you,” he said.
Meanwhile, when contacted the Chief Press Secretary to the state Governor, Ahmed Idris, confirmed the story in a telephone interview.
“We have heard about it. We are investigating the circumstances that led to his kidnap” Idris said, adding that “everything will be done to secure Alhaji Garba Hassan’s release”.
Hassan was Ngeski local government chairman between 2007 and 2015 under the All Progressives Congress. He, however, later defected to the People’s Democratic Party.
He was planning to return to the APC before his kidnap, it was learnt.
