- Promises to support human development
The senator representing Zamfara West on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Abdul’aziz Yari, has commended his palliative distribution committee and promised to give priority to humanitarian support, economic and human development.
Yari spoke in Gusau, the state capital, on Friday, through the former APC state chairman, Lawal Liman, while receiving a report of the palliative distribution to 168,000 households in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that Yari had recently donated 152 trucks of assorted grains as palliatives to the people of the state through his palliative programme, following the fuel subsidy removal in the country.
“We will continue to do more in supporting humanity and promoting the economic sector through human capital development,” he added.
The former governor said that the palliatives were distributed through sub-committees at the local government and ward levels.
“I appreciate the committee members at all levels for their sacrifices which ensured transparency and accountability in the distribution.
“We noticed that the gesture had almost reached all parts of the state.
“With the records of the exercise available to us, almost all the targeted beneficiaries have received the gesture,” Yari said.
He also appreciated security agencies and the publicity committee for their contributions toward the success of the exercise.
According to him, the palliatives contributed to the reduction of prices of food items across the state.
“We also noticed that the palliatives impacted in cushioning the hardship among people, especially the vulnerable households in the rural communities.
“Despite the security challenges in the state, over 168,000 households in the 147 political wards in the 14 LGAs received the palliatives,” he added.
