The Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State on Security, Sola Subair, has said that no fewer than 120 cultists have been arrested in the last three months, out of which 100 have been remanded across the state.
Subair, a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, said the state government would give no breathing space to troublemakers, adding that war against cultism was total.
He spoke on Friday during a security meeting with the Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi. Also in attendance were members of the state security team including the consultant to the governor on Security, Awolowo Ajogun, a retired commissioner of police; Senior Special Assistant on Security, Biyi Odubote; Divisional Police Officers in Sagamu and some traditional rulers and chiefs.
Subair said the essence of the meeting was to brief the monarch of the security situation in Remoland, especially Sagamu, which recently served as rival cult groups’ battlefield, leading to the loss of lives.
He stated, “The governor has maintained his resolve to use the instrumentality of the law to deal decisively with anyone who wants to disrupt the peace of any part of the state. In the last three months, no less than 120 cultists have been arrested while 100 of them are on remand through court orders. Security of lives and property has improved greatly in Remoland.”
The Akarigbo lauded the governor for his efforts in ensuring that every part of the state was safe for all.
