Sani made this call while speaking to the State House correspondents after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.
“As someone who has been in the National Assembly for four years before being the governor, I know we need the support of the Federal Government and Mr. President, in particular, for us to be able to address the problem of insecurity in our states,” Sani said.
The governor underscored the importance of collaboration with federal agencies to address challenges faced by the state.
He noted, “We have some areas where we need Mr. President’s intervention and support, especially in the area of security as well as all other important programmes of our government that has to do with agriculture and healthcare.
“I came here to discuss with Mr. President, who has been supportive of what we are doing in Kaduna. So it is just a follow up on what he has been doing for us and today I came also to remind him on other areas.”
Sani, who described Tuesday evening’s talks as “successful,” said President Tinubu had “called some ministries and agencies” to foster collaboration between the federal government and the state.
The former lawmaker lauded the President for his consistent support, emphasising that many of Kaduna’s initiatives would not have been possible without federal backing.
“We have a president that has taken Kaduna very seriously, and he is helping us in areas that we as a state cannot handle alone,” he remarked.
With security concerns topping the list of discussions, the Governor said, “We need some more boots on the ground in areas like Birnin Gwari, Giwa as well as some local governments around Zangon Kataf, Kaura and some axes of Southern Kaduna.”
Responding to questions about the commitments he secured from the President, Sani revealed that he had also met with service chiefs recently.
“The military has recognised Kaduna as one of the states needing serious security support
“They have he has stepped up efforts. The military generally considered Kaduna as one of the most important states that need this serious security support and intervention because, as you’re aware, security has something to do with the federal government, particularly when it comes to the issue of the service chiefs, the police and the DSS,” he explained.
