The bail application which was to be heard by Justice FD Lawal was filed by two lawyers; Dr Omotunde Adeola SAN and Ademola Bank on behalf of Tani Olohun.
A Kwara State Chief Magistrates’ Court presided over by Mohammed Ibrahim on September 19 declined to grant Tani Olohun bail for not having a known address, noting that he was safe at the Federal Correctional Service facility in Ilorin,.
Tani Olohun is standing trial for alleged defamation in.
In the application moved by Adeola, he pleaded with the court to grant Tani Olohun bail, arguing that the offence for which he is standing trial is bailable.
He further argued that the defendant would be physically present anytime the case comes up and is ready to provide a reliable surety.
However, Sanni Oseni, counsel for Ogo Ilorin, the complainant in the defamation case, said he had not been properly served with the application of the appeal of Tani Olohun brought before the court.
He pleaded with the court to give him time to study the application and respond to it.
Though Adeola opposed the plea, the presiding judge adjourned the case till November 2, 2023 for a hearing of the appeal.
