The Area Controller, Muhammed Umar, undertook a visit to key border communities in the state, in a bid to fortify national security.
This was disclosed in a press release on Sunday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Tahir Balarabe.
Umar stated the command’s readiness to tackle trans-border crimes, including arms smuggling, smuggling and human and drug trafficking.
He further assured all stakeholders that the command’s officers were adequately motivated and re-oriented to execute their duties diligently and without compromise, adding that the security around border areas is strategically significant.
The statement read, “The Customs Chief reiterated the NCS’s dedication to fostering better community relations across the state’s 12 border communities. In interactions with local leaders, such as Alhaji Bashir Maitan and the district head of Kaita, Umar urged unity among traders and residents to collaborate effectively with customs personnel for efficient border management.
“He sought the support of sister agencies and highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts to tackle trans-border crimes, a sentiment shared during his interactions with representatives of various agencies.
“This proactive approach by the Katsina Customs Area Command aims to ensure robust security measures while promoting legitimate trade activities in border regions.”
During his visit, the comptroller engaged with various stakeholders in the state.
