Prominent policymakers, influencers, and industry leaders are set to convene in Lagos for a high-profile conference aimed at addressing $10bn funding gap hindering the progress of the Sustainable Development Goals.
A statement said the event, part of the 2023 Sustainability Table Discourse Series, would take place on in Lagos.
The conference, now in its seventh year, served as a vital platform dedicated to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and promoting the shift towards a circular economy.
According to the statement, some of the influential voices expected at the event are Lagos State Governo,r Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Kwara State First Lady, Dr.Olufolake AbdulRazaq; Minister of State for Environment and Ecological Management, Dr. Isiaq Salako; and Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Akintunde Oyebode.
With the theme, ‘Sustainability to prosperity: Mobilising finance for the sustainable development goals’, the event would focus on mobilising financial resources to achieve the SDGs and the urgent need for investments in areas related to sustainable development.
Organised by Avantgarde and led by the Convener and Principal Consultant, Kayode Olaniyan, the conference would delve into crucial policy issues such as decarbonisation strategies, mobilisation of finance for timely climate action, and the creation of ecosystems addressing climate change, environmental concerns, and SDGs-related challenges.
In addition to discussing the $10bn funding gap, the conference aimed to transform this challenge into an opportunity by attracting capital and impact investments into sustainable projects, fostering economic prosperity.
A special emphasis would be placed on integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance principles into funding strategies, ensuring that investments yield maximum impact and returns.
He also announced the launch of his book, ‘Not a tick in the box’, which offered insights into sustainable business practices, further enriching the discourse at the event.
