Pinnick, the former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, dragged Davido to the High Court of Delta State in Effurun. In the lawsuit, Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide, were named as defendants.
The claimant, Brownhill Investments Company Limited, represented by counsel Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem, is seeking N2 billion in damages, N150 million in legal and professional fees, and an additional N30 million for filing the suit.
They also demanded a public apology on Davido’s social media pages and in two national newspapers for four consecutive days due to his failure to appear and perform at the 19th edition of the “Warri Again” event, despite having received payment.
According to the statement of claim, the company paid Davido the sum of US$94,500.00 (equivalent to N70 million at the time) on April 6, 2023, which he acknowledged.
They also chartered a private jet for Davido and his team, incurring an additional expense of $18,000 on October 6, 2023. However, all attempts to contact the singer on the event date were futile.
Due to his absence, they had to book fast-rising singer Crown Uzama, aka Shallipopi, at an extra and unbudgeted cost at the last minute to perform at the event.
