The Royal Head, Aro Kingdom, Oji Oji, and Kanu Okoro Kanu, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Friday.
According to the statement that emanated from the Eze Aro Palace, a grandson of Eze Kanu Oji and a prince of the kingdom, Eberechukwu Oji, has been selected as the new monarch.
“It is therefore no longer news that the process for the selection of a new Eze Aro has been concluded. The transparent process witnessed the emergence of Eberechukwu Oji, a prince of the kingdom, the grandson of Eze Kanu Oji and a petroleum engineer with over 25 years post qualification experience,” the statement read,
They said the selection of the Eze Aro, which is the exclusive preserve of Okennachi Kindred, followed the laid down process by “selecting and presenting to Ndi Oke, Utuhugwu, Bianko, and Amaja, the new Eze Aro.
“We use this opportunity to inform Umu Aro that the coronation of the Eze Aro, m Eberechukwu Oji, will take place on December 26, 2023.”
They faulted media reports claiming that someone else was purportedly crowned the Eze Aro by a suspended traditional ruler,
The palace enjoined the people of the community to be peaceful and law-abiding.
Following the death of the last paramount ruler of Arochukwu, Eze Aro, Vincent Okoro, the kingdom has been enmeshed in a tussle until now.
Aged 89, the Eze Aro ascended the throne in 1995 and reigned for 25 years and was preceded by Eze Mazi Kanu Orji, who was born in 1900 and died in 1987.
