Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, showered physically challenged students with love as she marked her birthday on Wednesday at special schools in the state.
The places she visited were the Ekiti State Government Special School for the Physically Challenged, Ido Ekiti; Special School for the Deaf, Ikoro Ekiti; Special School for the Blind, Ikere Ekiti; and State Relief and Rehabilitation Centre for the Mentally Challenged in Ado Ekiti, to celebrate with the students and inmates.
While presenting food items, provisions, drinks and cash to the schools, the governor’s wife noted that putting smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries made her day.
She used the opportunity to call on privileged individuals to always remember the vulnerable and less privileged so as to give them hope.
The Ekiti First Lady assured them that the governor would make their welfare a top priority.
The visibly elated physically challenged students and inmates of the rehabilitation centre sang and danced with the governor’s wife in appreciation of her gesture.
The teachers and caregivers also commended the First Lady for the visit and for the donations, which they pointed out came less than three months after her last visit.
Some of the personalities who accompanied the First Lady include the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Habibat Adubiaro; Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Bolaji Olagbaju; wife of the Speaker, Adenike Aribasoye; some members of the State Executive Council, legislators’ wives, All Progressives Congress women wing, among others.
