No fewer than nine suspects were on Sunday paraded by the Gombe State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps over varying offences.
PUNCH Metro reports that the crimes include a breach of public peace, theft of burglary windows and cow.
Parading the suspects on behalf of the state Commandant, Muhammad Bello, the Public Relations Officer, SC Buhari Sa’ad, said the suspects had confessed to the various crimes and would be charged to court.
According to Bello, who briefed journalists on the three categories of crimes, identified the initial category as a group of five who engaged in public fight, over a phone stressing that their crime was a breach of the peace.
“Today, we have two categories of suspects. The first category are the five people, three girls and two boys, who were fighting at the Miyetti Hotel and we got them arrested for a breach of public peace. The case involved one Ibrahim who is now at large and they were fighting for phone,” Bello said.
Speaking further, he mentioned a case of a worker of a hospital who was alleged to have stolen his brother’s windows, adding “The other category is concerning burglary and theft involving Bello Usman, an employee of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, of the nursing department who stole five burglary windows belonging to the complainant who happens to be his elder brother. He has confessed to the crime.”
Bello also disclosed a case of theft of cow in Nafada where no fewer than three persons were allegedly involved.
“The next is a case of suspected cow theft and they are all here. The complainant is a 50-year-old from Nafada Local Government Area of Gombe. After diligent investigation, the prime suspect, Abubakar Beto, and two others were arrested,” he said.
