Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede continues to assert himself as a force to be reckoned with in the Nigeria Premier Football League as he emerged the first coach to be named Coach of The Month for the new 2023/24 season by the League Bloggers Awards, PUNCH Sport Extra reports.
Ogunmodede, who had been awarded the best coach of the previous season, started the new NPFL season on a stellar note by being the only manager to win an away match in the month of October.
His side Remo Stars also won three matches in the period under review.
Also, Bayelsa United forward Robert Mizo, outclassed five others to win the Player of The Month award.
It was Mizo’s first Player of The Month award having narrowly missed out to the likes of Chukwuemeka Obioma and Imade Osarenkhoe last season.
To win the award, Mizo led the scorers’ chart after matchday five following his heroic a hat-trick performance against Akwa United on matchday 1 and a brace at home against Kwara United.
Plateau United’s Bernard Mundi also picked up the Goal of The month award for his overhead kick goal against Heartland on matchday two.
Mundi won the award after he polled 73.1 per cent of the votes casted by NPFL enthusiasts.
Sporting Lagos’ Jonathan Alukwu came in a distant second with 20.1% of the votes while goals from Andy Okpe of Rivers United and Isaac Saviour of Rangers against Remo Stars and Kano Pillars respectively, saw the duo place third and fourth with 3.4 per cent each.
