LOYALISTS of the late Dr Olusola Saraki, past government officials and political office holders, as well as the Peoples Democratic Party supporters in Kwara State, on Tuesday, held special prayers in memory of the late politician and philanthropist.
The prayer session, which was the 11th in the series, was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Mohammed Bashir-Saliu, alongside other Islamic clerics in the state.
The people, who gathered in large numbers, called on both the federal and state governments to address current socioeconomic hardship among Nigerians, especially residents of Kwara State, as done by the late statesman.
Speaking with journalists, the Chairman of the PDP in Kwara State, Babatunde Mohammed, and some other PDP stalwarts, like a former member of the state House of Assembly and commissioner in the state, Hajia Nimota Ibrahim, and the Chairman of the nPDP in the state, Alhaji Ishola Balogun-Fulani, said the late Saraki lived his life for the survival of the people.
Mohammed said, “For close to 40 years, he was making lots of people happy with his philanthropic activities. He was always happy helping people. Even when not politicking, whenever there was a sort of hardship, he would go to give assistance in all the 16 local government areas of the state, just as the son, our leader is doing today, taking after his father.”
