This was the situation before noon, when the state’s leadership of organised labour issued a directive for total compliance.
When The PUNCH went around some of the state government ministries and other establishments at Musa Usman Secretariat by noon Tuesday, many workers were busy going about their normal jobs.
“We are yet to receive any directive to embark on the strike,” a worker, who spoke told The PUNCH said , adding that , “I will join the strike as soon as we receive any directive to that effect.”
Several workers interviewed reiterated the stance to sit at home as soon as they receive any directive to that effect from the state leadership of the organised labour.
Following a joint meeting held by the State Executive Councils of the NLC and TUC, a directive has been issued to state workers to join the ongoing strike without delay. The decision was made after the meeting concluded at noon.
“The leadership of the Organised Labour in Borno State in compliance with the National directive hereby direct all affiliates and workers in general to comply immediately,” a joint statement issued by the labour leaders immediately after the SEC meeting said.
The statement, signed by Yusuf Inuwa, State NLC Chairman, and Babayo Hamma, his TUC counterpart, said, “Workers are therefore enjoined to remain at home pending further directives from the National Headquarters.”
