La Roja romp expected in Kolossi
Cyprus couldn’t have endured a worse qualifying campaign, having lost all seven games so far. They have scored just twice and have a disastrous goal difference of -23. In contrast, Spain have bounced back from an unexpected defeat in Scotland to win four successive qualifiers to top the group.
It is no surprise to see the visitors as the massive odds-on favourite to be the winner of this tie. However, we can get them onside by taking the handicap. La Roja have scored 16 goals in their last four group games, including a 6-0 win in the reverse fixture. A +3 goal start for the hosts here means we are taking Spain to win by four or more goals, with the odds standing at 2.13.
Bet 1: Handicap: Spain (Home +3) @ 2.13 with Bet9ja
Cypriot woes at both ends to continue
Spain have only conceded in two qualifying games in Group A, while Cyprus have only scored in two of theirs. The Spanish have only failed to score once, whereas the Cypriots have conceded at least three goals in six out of their seven fixtures so far.
Looking at the head-to-head stats, this bet has landed in five out of the last eight encounters between the two nations. During this time, Spain secured victories, including scores of 5-0, 6-0 (twice), 7-0, and 8-0.
Bet 2: Spain + NG + Over 3.5 Goals @ 2.49 with Bet9ja
Four-midable Spain too good for hosts
Luis de la Fuente’s side effortlessly handled the reverse fixture in September. Cyprus aimed to frustrate their opponents, but an opening goal within 20 minutes ripped those plans up. By the end of the night, Spain had 81% of ball possession and fired in 28 shots, 12 of which were on target, limiting the visitors to just one effort.
That game ended 6-0, with things not improving much for Temuri Ketsbaia and his team in the next two group games. Both ended in 4-0 defeats. The first one was against third-placed Norway at home, followed by another one in Georgia. This could well make it a hat-trick, and I’m prepared to take the chance by adding it to my predictions at nice odds.
Bet 3: Spain to win 4-0 @ 6.40 with Bet9ja
Morata taken to add to his tally
Given the high likelihood of goals, the last of my tips pinpoints who will score them. Specifically, who will score the first one, with Alvaro Morata as the selection.
Morata has had an excellent start to the season. He has netted 12 goals in 15 domestic appearances for Atletico Madrid. Since the last international break, he has scored five goals in six games.
He scored the crucial opening goal in the top-of-the-table clash against Scotland last month. This made the 31-year-old his nation’s top scorer in qualifying with four goals. The strike against the Scots was the second time he has opened the scoring in the last four internationals. I’m taking him to do it again here.
Bet 4: First Goalscorer Alvaro Morata @ 3.75 with bet365
