Atiku’s Special Assistant (Broadcast Media), AbdulRasheed Shehu, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists.
Shehu said as part of events lined up for his 77th birthday, Atiku on Wednesday returned to Central Primary School Jada where he first enrolled in 1954 and had rebuilt years later during his philanthropic projects.
Addressing the pupils, the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate thanked God for the blessings that enabled him to succeed despite his poor background.
He urged the pupils to work hard so they could also become successful in the future like him.
“As I have become something in life despite my poor background, you too can be if you work hard,” the 2023 presidential candidate told the schoolchildren.
“We will support and help you to become something better in the future,” he promised.
Atiku’s Special Assistant, Ahmed Shehu, described the ex-vice president as an icon of Nigerian democracy for his generosity, especially in promoting education.
The District Head of Jada also visited Atiku to pay homage on his 77th birthday, marked across Adamawa State.
Giving vulnerable Jada students scholarships were among the charity activities surrounding Atiku’s birthday as he encouraged youth to emulate his life journey of perseverance.
