A gospel artist, Lekan Remilekun-Amos, has said that he often draws inspiration for his songs from the Bible.
He told Sunday Scoop, “I give God all the glory. He is the source of my inspiration. Most times, I get ideas whenever I am studying the Word of God, whether in church or in my private moments. That is why most of my songs have Biblical references.”
The singer added that he also draws inspiration from happenings around him, or whenever he is thinking about the mysteries of life.
On the challenges he faces as a gospel artiste, he said, “Challenges are meant to strengthen a man. I have faced a lot of challenges, ranging from people not believing in my brand when I started, to funding and piracy. But God has been faithful. I am still facing challenges, but I believe they will all result in testimonies.”
He added that another major challenge was convincing the present generation that they can preach the gospel of Christ in songs, without being immoral.
Speaking on what he misses the most about his dad, who was also a gospel musician, Amos said, “My dad was a highly respected minstrel in the vineyard of God. I definitely miss his teachings, psalmist-lyrics and jokes. He was a man who dedicated his life to gaining lost souls for the kingdom of God. Thankfully, I have been able to keep his legacies to the best of my abilities.”
The Unconditional Praise singer also advised aspiring gospel artistes to first discover themselves, nurture their calling by being steadfast, study to acquire knowledge, and keep to high standards of morality and righteousness.
