The Sagamu Unit Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps organised a one-day workshop to sensitise drivers about road safety measures.
The event, themed “Speed Thrills, But Kills”, took place at Awolowo Motor Park in Sagamu, Ogun State, recently.
Chief Route Commander Sule Okloho (Unit Commander Rs2.25) emphasised the FRSC’s tradition of raising awareness, especially during the ember months, about the inherent dangers on roads.
He urged drivers to exercise caution, maintain speed limits, obtain valid driver’s licenses, and avoid route violations.
FRSC Deputy Corps Commander, Ayodeji Oseni said, “The increasing trend of road accidents is largely attributed to drivers’ distractions such as talking or texting on mobile phones.”
He provided insights into various safety aspects, including, “overloading, traffic signs, emergencies, road lanes, wrongful overtaking, driving on walkways, smoking while driving, and preventing accidents.”
