An All Progressives Congress senatorial aspirant for Ebonyi South senatorial district, Dr Mike Obaji, has urged opposition elements in the state to cease fighting the state governor, Francis Nwifuru, saying that the governor meant well for the state.
Obaji opined that with Nwifuru’s victory at the Court of Appeal last Friday, the governor was more focused on and poised to deliver dividends of democracy to residents of the state.
Obaji, a Professor of Mechatronics Engineering, stated this during an interaction with journalists, in Abakaliki, on Wednesday.
Lauding Nwifuru for his victory at the Court of Appeal, he said, “I congratulate the executive governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for once again defeating the opposition detractors at the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division.
“I plead with Chief Ifeanyi Odii and Prof. Ben Odoh to withdraw from further distracting the state governor, who may likely become the best governor Nigeria has ever produced since 1999.
“I fear that Odii and Odoh may completely lose the remnant of political value few Ebonyians still place on them, if they continue to distract the governor.
“The best Igbo politicians should be doing is to sheath their swords and support one another for the economic growth of the region, and not to fight their own.”
Recall that the Appeal Court, sitting in Lagos, on Friday, upheld the election that declared Nwifuru as the governor of Ebonyi State.
The court dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Dr Ifeanyichukwuma Odii challenging the outcome of the Saturday, March 18 governorship election.
