The Blooming Greens School, Yaba, through an art exhibition taught its learners social values like giving, kindness, respectfulness and others.
Chief Executive Officer, of Blooming Greens School, Susan Babatunde-Yamah, during the seventh exhibition, explained that the purpose of the exhibition was to give to the less privileged in the community, saying students would learn from the action.
The art exhibition in its seventh year was titled, ‘Artrageous Charity.’
She said, “Today’s is our Art Exhibition for charity. It’s an annual event for the school. It is about giving to the less privileged. It is an avenue to raise money for the less privileged through the creativity of our children. We have different artworks, we bring them together and bring them for exhibition, people come to buy the children’s artwork and the proceeds will be given to the less privileged.”
Babatunde-Yamah added that the reason behind the exhibition was also to teach students how to support others.
“In this school, our children are supportive because we expose them to core life values. It is also getting our children to appreciate the fact that they’re privileged.
“What prompted me into doing this, I personally like to support the less privileged. I love to inculcate the tradition of giving in the children. The children are ready and excited to support other children out there. Our parents have been supportive and are also buying the children’s art works,” she said.
10-year-old Year six pupil, Zara Danyaro, who had about three art works on displayed during the exhibition, said, “My art work represents African women’s intelligence and their black skin. The other art work concentrated on African animals.
“I derive my inspiration from my Art teacher, Africa and animals. I love Art and making art works. I always enjoy this art exhibition every year. Not only are we expressing our art prowess, we are also helping the less privileged. We are using Art and our creativity to help less privileged.”
