The Niger Delta Development Commission has promised to provide communities in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State with more development projects.
The Abia State representative on the Board of the NDDC, Eruba Dimgba, made the promise during a grand reception organised in his honour by the people of Asa community at the Ogwe Central School, Asa.
This was contained in a statement signed by the NDDC Director, Corporate Affairs, Pius Ughakpoteni, in Port Harcourt on Friday.
Dimgba said the NDDC recently awarded contracts for the construction of the Ngwaiyiekwe-Ogwe Road and the Owaza-Uzuaku-144 Battalion-Afam Junction Road, both in the oil-bearing communities of Ukwa West Council area.
The NDDC Board member announced that work on the road projects would commence immediately, noting that they would be completed in a record time.
Dimgba added that work on the power transmission station in the local government area had reached an advanced stage, noting that the station would be connected to the national grid before the end of the year.
He said, “I shall not be found wanting in the delivery of the dividends of democracy as a member of the NDDC Board. The Commission will be addressing your challenges and more projects will be executed.”
“The honour done to me is a call to higher service to the people. I will not disappoint the people of Abia State. I, however, count on your support to succeed.”
