The incident, it was gathered, happened at Labaka Oja, Oke-Ode in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Saturday.
It was gathered that the victim was preparing to have his dinner when he was called on the phone by a man whose name was given as Ali.
A community source told our correspondent on Tuesday that the victim was called on phone and went into the bush but never returned alive.
“When we continued the search the next day (Monday), we met his corpse at the same spot where we recovered his motorcycle a day earlier and was badly macheted,” the source said.
Speaking on the incident, the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Kazeem Irewolede, who confirmed the incident, said the community had apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the police.
According to the traditional ruler, it was gathered that there was a disagreement between the suspect and the victim on tubers of yam earlier harvested on his (victim) farm.
“We discovered that the deceased once caught the suspect harvesting some tubers of yam on his farm, apprehended and collected money from him in the process, which led to their disagreement,” the traditional ruler said
The state Police Public Relations Officer Ejire-Adetoun Adeyemi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Tuesday, adding that the suspect had confessed to the crime and would be prosecuted accordingly.
