More misery in Marseille for lowly Lyon
Marseille have made their Stade Vélodrome home something of a fortress this season by recording two wins there last week. They triumphed over Ajax by the odd goal in seven in the Champions League, before a more routine 2-0 Ligue 1 victory against Rennes at the weekend.
Bet9ja marks the home side as the heavy favourite to be the winner in this match and I agree with that. Odds of 1.68 are too short to add to my tips on their own, but adding over 1.5 goals brings the price up to 1.93. L’OM have won 10 of their last 14 home games, with this selection landing in all of them.
Bet 1: Marseille & Over 1.5 Goals @ 1.93 with Bet9ja
Expecting Auba’s streak to continue
Having scored three goals in his opening 15 games of the season for Marseille, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has found his stride. The Gabon international has blasted four goals in the last two home games.
Known as a prolific striker throughout his career, particularly with Dortmund, Arsenal and Barcelona, the 34-year-old seems to be enjoying his football again. Released from an unhappy spell at Chelsea, Auba is making up for lost time. Nice odds are offered to add to his tally against the side who are bottom of the league.
Bet 2: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score @ 2.50 with Bet9ja
Looking to make this tip spot on
A large part of why Aubameyang is such a good price is because he is on penalties. Out of those four goals scored last week, three came from the spot.
Looking at the stats, there have been 39 penalties awarded so far in the French top flight in 124 fixtures. That equates to approximately one penalty awarded every three games. Considering the rivalry and animosity in this clash, along with the usual beady eye of VAR, I am happy to add a penalty award to my predictions.
Bet 3: Penalty awarded @ 2.75 with Bet9ja
Early Christmas cards to be handed out
The recent head-to-head stats surprisingly show a lack of cards. There have only been seven yellow cards shown in the last four meetings at an average of 1.75 cards per game.
I think this one will be different though, and I was equally surprised to see the line available here at over 4.5 cards. The referee for this game, François Letexier, has shown 29 yellow cards in Ligue 1 this season at 4.83 per game. Only Matthieu Vernice has a higher average.
The official did take charge of a Marseille game earlier this season. He issued seven yellow cards during Toulouse’s visit to Stade Vélodrome in September.
Bet 4: Over 4.5 cards @ 2.26 with Bet9ja
