The Anglican School Friends has donated some Intensive Care Unit equipment to Maternity Hospital, Lagos Island.
The ICU equipment, meant for infants and parents during emergencies was donated by the Anglican Girls’ School, Lagos, set 1961 to 1967.
Permanent Secretary, of Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr Ademuyiwa Eniayewun, while receiving the equipment said, “It will be put to good use, only for the intended purpose of saving children’s life, especially when in distress or during emergency.”
According to Eniayewun, the donation is a step in the right direction especially now that every effort is put in place by the State Government to reduce infant mortality in the state.
Also speaking, Medical Director, Massey Street Children Hospital, Dr Irewole Ojo, said the hospital was proud to be a recipient of the equipment as anything done in the support of children was never a wasted effort.
She said she hoped that the donation would be a precursor for more donations from good-spirited Lagosians, in support of government efforts.
Chairman of Anglican School Friends, Mrs Funmilayo Oggar, maintained that the love for children and desire to contribute their quotas to the improvement of the health sector in the state initiated their action.
She implored the hospital to endeavour not only to maintain the equipment but ensure they were used appropriately.
