The value of the scholarship awards was put at three hundred and twenty-two million, six hundred and six thousand, two hundred and fifty naira (N322, 606,250.00).
The Vice Chancellor of Lead City University, Prof Kabiru Aderemi Adeyemo, disclosed this to journalists at the weekend, at a media parley on the post-16 convocation of the institution.
He said that Lead City University has established various scholarship programmes aimed at financially assisting deserving students who face economic challenges.
Adeyemo’s tenure has been extended by another five years, with effect from January 1, 2023.
He said that the university was playing host to a Fullbright scholar, Dr Atim Eneida George, adding that “the collaborative projects initiated during her visit period have set the stage for continued academic excellence and global engagement.”
Adeyemo said: “Lead City University has established various scholarship programmes aimed at financially assisting deserving students who face economic challenges. These scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, financial need, and specific criteria set by our university.
“By offering these scholarships, we enable students who would otherwise be unable to pursue higher education to access our educational opportunities. We actively collaborate with local organisations, government agencies, and non-governmental organisations to identify students in need of financial support.
“We strive to make education more accessible by offering flexible payment options and reduced fees for economically disadvantaged students. This helps ensure that financial constraints do not become barriers to education.”
